You Were So Manic
"This is a treasure," Wang Yao said to the dog next to him.
"Woof! Woof!" The dog barked when hearing what he said.
"Well, this medicine will not be given to you to try." Wang Yao smiled.
In the past, when he needed to try a drug's efficacy, he let the dog do it.
Two cars were parked outside the clinic. The license plates showed they were from the provincial city. Three people got out of the cars, one of which was quite majestic. He seemed to be a person with power.
"Is it here?" the leader of the group asked.
"Yes, it is here," a young man wearing glasses said.
"What's up?" They saw the wooden sign hanging outside the clinic.
"Not available?" the chubby man in the group asked.
"Well, it looks like we came at the wrong time," the young man said.
"Does he live in this village?" the leader asked. "Ask where his family is and go to his house to look for him."
"He doesn't like people to go to his home to disturb his parents," the young man said.
"What should we do? Do we just wait here?" the chubby man asked.
"Go to his house. It is OK if we go ask for his phone number," the leader said.
One of the men went into the village to find out about him. Coincidently, Wang Yao's parents were not at home. They had just gone to visit someone.
The three men waited in the car.
"Does he do his business in this way?" the leader asked.
"This is a medical institution, not a business," the young said.
"A medical center is also a business, and a good business is honest and punctual, right?" the chubby man asked. "You know how busy our director is, yet we have been waiting for more than an hour. It has been exactly one hour and 40 minutes."
"Lao He, you are so meticulous. You are indeed awesome to have such thoughts for the leadership," the young man said with a smile.
"Same with you," Lao He said. "In my view, his clinic is estimated to be unsuccessful."
The young man smiled. He thought the doctor had personality. He liked him, but it could not be said in front of his colleagues.
At noon, Wang Yao came down from the mountain and saw two cars waiting outside. He was surprised. Originally, he wanted to take the initiative to speak with them. He changed his mind immediately after receiving a call.
He ignored the people in the two cars and went home. On the way, he passed by a fat man who had rushed to the clinic.
"Hey, didn't he come?" Lao He asked. "When his family just called, they said he was on the way."
"Xiao Ji, do you see him?" the group's leader asked.
"No," Lao He said.
The young man in the car didn't talk much. In fact, he had been there before. He had seen Wang Yao. He knew Wang Yao had seen them from the side of the car just now but did not stop. The young man recognized him, but he did not get out of the car because he saw no reaction from Wang Yao.
"Xiao Ji, have you been here before?" the leader asked.
"I came here once," the young man said.
"Have you seen the doctor?" the leader asked.
"No, I waited outside and did not go in," the young man said.
Wang Yao returned home. His parents were home.
"Hey, did you not pass by the clinic just now?" His mother was surprised.
"Yes, I saw someone waiting there. Let them wait," Wang Yao said.
"What?" Zhang Xiuying asked.
"They disobeyed the rules," Wang Yao calmly said.
"Disobeyed the rules? They just came here to ask for your number. It might be urgent." Zhang Xiuying was a warm-hearted person.
"I have seen them. There is nothing urgent," Wang Yao said.
The reason he treated the men this way was because he had heard on the phone that the person was unfriendly to his mother. They were arrogant, so he decided they could wait.
"Mom, I haven't eaten yet." Wang Yao changed the topic.
"I will prepare you some hot dishes!" Zhang Xiuying immediately prepared a meal for her son. As for the people still waiting outside, they were put to the side.
Once the dishes were done, Wang Yao steadily ate his meal. Outside the clinic, the people couldn't wait anymore.
"What is going on here?" Lao He was anxious.
"Did you ask his family for a phone number?" the young man asked.
"They did not give it to me," Lao He said. "This guy… Since he's making the director wait for hours, he must be low in rank!"
"Why don't you go to his house and see," the young man said.
When Lao He arrived at Wang Yao's home. He found him leisurely drinking water. Hey, this young man was the one who just came down from the mountain. He is already home!
"When you came back, why didn't you go to the medical center? We all waited for a long time!" Lao He was in a hurry, so his tone was somewhat rushed.
"If you can't wait, you can go," Wang Yao calmly said.
"Hey, why do you say that?" Lao He was angry. He had been a little angry while waiting outside for so long. When he saw that the doctor was at home but let them wait outside, he became even angrier.
"Your attitude was bad," Wang Yao said.
"Why are you so arrogant?" Lao He asked. "You are just a doctor in a mountain village?"

"Go out!" Wang Yao yelled.

"What is going on here?" He was shocked. He looked at the young man, who was still sitting. "Is this an illusion?"
The fact that the fat man dared to be so arrogant at his home made Wang Yao conclude that he must always be arrogant. He decided that he would not see the patient.
"You! You! Wait!" Lao He rushed away, slamming the iron gate of Wang Yao's house.
"What happened?" Zhang Xiuying asked. She had heard the noise, so she hurried out. She was scared.
"It's nothing, Mom," Wang Yao said.
Lao He rushed back to the outside of the clinic. "Director."
"How did it go?" the leader asked.
"He was at home. He saw us here. He knew we were waiting here but did not come," Lao He said.
"What is going on?" Sitting in the car, the director's face slightly changed.
"He didn't take us seriously," Lao He said.
"Well, I know." The director waved his hand. "Wait, I have to see who the doctor is."
Lao He returned to the car. "I'm furious."
"What's up?" the young man asked.
Lao He exaggeratedly told him what he just experienced. "Why is he so arrogant when he is just a doctor in a small mountain village? He should not make us wait."
He never thought that he would be so angry in a mountain village. They had come from the provincial capital, and they were within the system. They were superior. When they came here to do things, everything had to be finished quickly. When they followed the boss, people were very cooperative no matter where they were. He did not think that he would encounter such a thing here or such an arrogant person.
"OK, don't be angry," the young man said. He whispered to himself, "This time it would be troublesome."
They waited for more than 30 minutes. The doctor still did not come.
"He is at home, but he doesn't come. I am really angry," Lao He said.
"Don't be angry. This time, it is the director who wants to see the doctor," the young man said.
"Yeah." Lao He took a deep breath. He still didn't understand what mistakes he had made. Now that he had calmed down, he thought about it. This is not good!
He had annoyed the doctor. If he would not come to see the director, the director could only return home. The purpose of this trip could not be achieved. In the end, they would be useless in this matter. What should I do?
In the mirror, they could see the young man coming in their direction.
Are they still here? When Wang Yao passed by the car. He did not look at them.
"Lao He, you wait here. I will go and ask him." The young man stopped his colleague from getting out of the car.
