The Legend of the Kyubi

Extra 15: Dragon & Dragon Maids (13)

Extra 15: Dragon & Dragon Maids (13)

The duo continued to watch Ur's days filled with despair as she slowly drifted away from civilization, as if trying to isolate the pain she felt over the loss of her daughter.

Ultear could only watch this in silence as she tried to grab her mother's shoulder and tell her that she was alive, but every time she was about to do so, Kurama would stop her, telling her that it wasn't time yet.

"Why!" - Ultear exclaimed angrily as she bit her lip.

"Because as I said before it's not the time yet" - Kurama replied while shaking his head - "If she finds out the truth, the first thing she'll do is run to the lab to try to rescue you, but they are much stronger than your mother if we count them all together, so going would be practically getting her killed!"

"We can help her!" - Ultear exclaimed as her gaze changed to one of fury.

"I'm sorry, but if we talk, we would already be interfering, the moment we act, the fiber of space-time will start to collapse around us, the worst case scenario being us being trapped in a dimensional limbo" - replied Kurama while shaking his head - "When I said that interacting with people from other eras was serious, I wasn't kidding, and I wasn't just referring to the huge burden we have to bear, but the possible consequences of affecting the delicate line that protects space-time"

"Is there no way we can intervene without suffering the consequences?" - Ultear asked with a frown - "I thought you were capable of anything?"

"I am, but even I have my limits" - replied Kurama while closing his eyes - "But you don't have to worry, the time will come soon, we just have to wait a bit until I can detect the moment we need"

"Detect?" - Ultear asked with a frown.

"I've said it a hundred times, but time travel is a tricky thing, I have to be sure at what time and where I can move, or it could cause a huge disaster if I teleport us right into a person's house, and he sees us" - replied Kurama as he looked at the black haired woman - "Give me a day, and we can move to a different time."

"Ok" - nodded Ultear as she looked at her mother again before retreating because it honestly broke her heart to keep watching this.

* * * * *

"We're here" - said Kurama as he stepped out of the portal next to Ultear.

"Where are we?" - asked Ultear with a frown.

"I'm sure you remember" - said Kurama as he pointed in the direction of the home in the middle of the frozen field.

"!" - Ultear's eyes widened in surprise that she remembered this, though at the same time she felt that everything was blurred, as if these memories were recreated or modified - "T-This year is."

"Yes, the year you managed to destroy the lab" - Kurama answered as the two watched as a small silhouette walked towards the house.

"Is this the time?" - Ultear asked with surprise and excitement.

"Yes, now that you're here, there's no need for your mother to have to jump into danger" - replied Kurama calmly as he watched the little girl peek through the window, only to feel his heart break as he watched the little girl start to cry at the sight of the warm familiar scene of her mother next to two unknown children.

"I remember this" - Ultear murmured as she felt the tears run down to see her smaller version - "At the time I thought my mother had replaced me with those two after abandoning me. I felt my world go dark, how for the first time in my life I wanted to kill someone, so I went back to the lab to have them experiment on me."

"It's time for you to change the future of this little girl, but I want you to remember something, every action, has a reaction, and we don't know what the consequences will be if you intervene in these moments" - said Kurama while he stopped the time for the woman to think calmly - "You can bring a happy childhood to this version of you, and so you can feel better about yourself, or you can let fate take its course with slight variations"

"I don't care about the others, I just wish I could be with my mother" - Ultear said as she shook her head - "And even if that's not me, seeing her being able to have what I don't, is more than enough for me."

"I wasn't trying to dissuade you, I was just trying to make you see the consequences of what we will do" - replied Kurama as he shrugged his shoulders.

Slowly, the two walked to the girl, and it was at that moment where Kurama ceased to stop time.

"Who are you" - said the little Ultear as she looked at the two strange adults in front of her - "And what do you want with me?"

"You may think I'm crazy, but I'm the future you" - said Ultear as she bent down to look the little girl straight in the eyes.

"Right, like there's a magic to travel through time" - snorted the little girl with annoyance. She was furious, and now there was this strange woman trying to pass herself off as an older version of her, though at the same time she had to admit that she bore some similarity to her and her mother.

"Let me talk to her" - Kurama said as he moved Ultear a little and put himself in a similar situation to her - "Hello, little one".

"Hello" - replied the little Ultear confused because she felt she could trust this man - "My name is Kurama, and I am responsible for making her come to this time."

"Do you really come from the future?" - The little Ultear asked in surprise and confusion because it was strange that she was so quick to trust this man.

The adult Ultear was also surprised, but did not show it because this was not the most surprising thing Kurama had done in her presence.

"Yes, she is the you from many years in the future" - Kurama answered with a smile - "Is she pretty?"

"Yes" - nodded the little Ultear because she had to admit that she was just as beautiful as her mother, and that was something she liked - "Why did you travel to the past?"

"So we could change some things" - answered Kurama as he made the little girl turn around and look at her mother talking together with those two children, only to feel a huge amount of jealousy.

"She didn't abandon you" - Kurama said as he stroked the little girl's black hair - "The scientists told your mother that you had died when she was looking for help to cure you."

"Bullshit!" - Little Ultear exclaimed angrily.

"I'm not lying, we were there when that happened" - replied Kurama while shaking his head.

"If you were there, why didn't you do anything!" - Little Ultear exclaimed angrily as tears ran down her cheeks.

"Because we can't intervene directly" - replied Kurama as he shook his head - "And if we told your mother that you were still alive, she would have attacked the lab, and if that happened, I'm sure you understand what would have happened!"

Little Ultear froze when she heard this as a deep fear invaded her insides. She had seen all the experiments the scientists had done in that hellish place, so she was aware that many of the inhabitants of that place, were strong, or didn't care about their lives after all they had suffered - ". . ."

"I'm sorry that you have suffered for so long, but this is the best time to reveal the truth to her" - Kurama continued as he motioned for the two Ultear to follow him to the door.

"I'm coming!" - A boyish male voice exclaimed after Kurama knocked on the door.

Slowly, the door opened, revealing a small black-haired boy - "Yes?"

"Hello, we've come to talk to your teacher, tell her we're someone from her past" - Kurama said with a smile.

Gray looked at the white-haired man, then looked at the two women and was surprised at how alike they were to his teacher, so he quickly came to the conclusion that they were related to her - "I'll be right over."

5 minutes later, Ur came out confused, only to open her eyes in surprise to see a woman so closely resembling her, but her expression froze when she saw the little girl as she felt tears begin to build up in her eyes - "No, please don't trick me!"

"Mama" - little Ultear murmured as she began to cry.

"Ultear" - murmured Ur as she felt her hands tremble with fear, not because she was scared to see her, but because she didn't want to suffer again because of a cruel illusion.

Slowly, she reached out her hands to try to touch what seemed to be her daughter.

Kurama could notice the pain in the woman's expression, however, a smile appeared when he noticed the change in the woman's expression when she touched her daughter and saw that she was real.

"Impossible, they told me you were dead" - said Ur while hugging the little girl with tears in her eyes - "They told me there was nothing left of you".

"I'm alive, mom, I was always" - answered little Ultear as she hugged her mother in tears.
