C111 I Envy You As My Father

C111 I Envy You As My Father

Du Shaofu raised his head and looked at the tall and upright figure stealthily walking in. It was his father, the drunkard. However, his father actually seemed normal today compared to his usual drunken appearance, for he was even dressed in brand new clothes.

Looking at his green robe, Du Shaofu recalled that it was the one that he had bought for him previously.

With his usual messy, long hair combed back this time and few strands of hair falling down his shoulder, Du Tingxuan wore his usual resolute face which appeared even more handsome.

Following Du Shaofu's gaze, Du Tingxuan looked down at the robe he was wearing and said softly, "It suits me rather well."

"I look just like you."

Scanning through his appearance for a while, Du Shaofu realized that he looked rather quite similar to his drunkard of a father.

Du Tingxuan looked at Du Shaofu and said with a deep and resounding voice, filled with magnetism, "It's because you're my son."

"You are my father, but you've been keeping a lot of secrets from me, right?"

Du Shaofu looked at his father and said with a twitch on his mouth, "You were also the one who gave me the Ancestral Shrine Stone Coffin, right?"

"You actually know about it?" Du Tingxuan was actually quite surprised as his eyes shone brilliantly like the brightest star in the night sky.

"At first, I too had no idea. However, I was able to sniff out the smell of alcohol after I gained the ability to cultivate. Who else other than you could have done it?" Du Shaofu said. "Next time you do something sneaky, you ought to pay more attention to that smell of alcohol on your body."

"As expected of my son," Du Tingxuan said with a smile.

"Is that Ancestral Shrine Stone Coffin some sort of treasure?"

The Ancestral Shrine Stone Coffin were definitely extraordianry, for it too could cleanse one's marrows just like the Golden Winged Roc's Body Tempering Technique

In fact, Du Shaofu could feel that the effects of the Ancestral Shrine Stone Coffin was in no way inferior to that of the Golden Winged Roc's Body Tempering Technique. Yes, he was able to quickly cultivate the first stage of the Golden Winged Roc's Body Tempering Technique. However, if not for the fact that the Ancestral Shrine Stone Coffin cleansed his marrows beforehand, it would probably have been impossible for him to step into the second stag of the Body Tempering Technique so quickly.

"It should be, but even I have no idea what exactly it is. I had also discovered its use by complete accident. It's something that's passed down from one generation to the next within the family. Since those elders act strictly according to the traditions, they forbade anyone from even touching it," Du Tingxuan laughed

Du Shaofu's trembled slightly. From the looks of things, it appears that his drunkard of a father really did discover the use of the Ancestrol Shrine Stone Coffin by complete accident and truly did not know about its history or origins.

"Will Brother Qingchun be alright?"

Du Shaofu turned to look at the small pagoda in his hand, feeling nervous again.

"He is an extremely powerful cultivator. However, his primordial spirit is currently very weak. Had he recovered a bit more, he would probably have been able to detect my true strength before. Perhaps he may have already did long ago."

Du Tingxuan knitted his brows slightly and said, "He has consumed far too much of what little primordial spirit he recovered so far. I'm afraid it'll take quite some time before he awakens once again."

"How long will it take?"

Du Shaofu felt somewhat anxious as he hoped for Zhen Qingchun to awaken soon. Aside from his desire to learn more about Talisman Arrays, he first and foremost prioritized the well being of Zhen Qingchun, for he treated him as his sworn brother.

"I'm not sure either. Perhaps it would take one or two years, three or four years. Maybe even longer than that," Du Tingxuan replied.

Du Shaofu asked with a slight frown, "Will it take that long?"

"If you find the chance in the future, you should find some elixirs that can help him recover his primordial spirit. That way, he'll be able to recover even a little faster."

Du Tingxuan looked at the small pagoda in Du Shaofu's hands and said: "I don't know the specifics regarding those annoying Spirit Talisman Masters."

"I'm also a Spirit Talisman Master."

Du Shaofu said with a slight frown. It appeared that the his father was not very fond of the Spirit Talisman Master. Even then, he was still one himself.

"You are also my son. Besides, you are first and foremost a Martial Cultivator."

Du Tingxuan looked at Du Shaofu with an indifferent expression and said, "Is there nothing else you want to ask about?"

"Of course, there is." Du Shaofu nodded as he looked at his father. "But what's the use of asking if you have no intentions of answering?"

"You didn't even ask me anything yet, so how could I give you any answers?" Du Tingxian replied.

"Even if I ask you my questions, you might not be willing to tell me."

"You just have to worry about asking questions. I'm the one who will decide whether or not I give you any answers."

Du Shaofu stared as his drunkard of a father and knitted his brows before saying, "Sometimes, I really do envy you."

"Envy me for what?" Du Tingxuan asked with slight curiosity.

"I envy you for having a son like me and for being my father."

Du Tingxuan asked, "What's there to be envious of? Sure, there are many people who are envious of me, but they definitely don't envy you for being my son."

Speaking up till this point, Du Tingxuan looked at Du Shaofu and said, "Actually, even I did not expect you to actually be able to cultivate."

"I've worked so hard for ten whole years, yet I've always been treated as a fool during those years," Du Shaofu said as his mouth twitched slightly.

"Fortune favors the fools," Du Tingxuan seemed to have something to say. "Do you want to know everything?"

"Of course!" Du Shaofu's eyes immediately lit up.

"Your path will definitely be filled with hardships upon knowing the truth," Du Tingxuan said as he looked at Du Shaofu with a serious expression.

"It's better to die knowing the truth than to die unbeknownst of the cause," Du Shaofu replied.

"Then, follow me." Du Tingxuan nodded before walking out the room.

After storing the small pagoda back into his Spatial Bag, Du Shaofu followed his father's lead.

The bright blue sky appeared lively yet solemn as if cleansed by water.

Following his drunkard of a father, Du Shaofu entered the mountain range at the back of the Du Family and headed even further than the place where he usually trained at amidst the mountains.

This was the peak of a mountain. Looking both down and up, there were several layers to the mountain peak as it appeared rather grand yet strange.

However, when Du Shaofu finally reached the top of the mountain, he realized that the peak was much more magnificent than it appeared to be from a distance.

Whenever he looked at the mountain peak from the bottom, Du Shaofu would often feel that it was far too high for him to reach. However, at this time, the mountain silently revealed to him that many people had once descending from its peak.

"You didn't bring me here simply for a hike, right?" Du Shaofu asked his father as he looked at the mountains in the distance.

"Of course not."

With his deep voice gradually diminished, Du Tingxuan manifested a hand before him as a ray of rune light burst out from the center of his forehead. It seemed like both the luminous moon and the morning sun as it flickered non-stop. The Qi fluctuated terrifyingly through the air as it twisted against itself.

*Hwoosh!*

At that moment, Du Shaofu realized that the rune between the brows of his father radiated brilliantly as though it was spilt apart amidst the void.

The fluctuations with the large expanse of rune light made a "hwoosh" sound as it shot forth in an obscure manner, making it hard to tell whether it was real or fake. Appearing rather profound, the rune light enveloped Du Shaofu and rushed into his mind.

At that moment, Du Shaofu felt a sudden sharp pain jolting through his mind, making him feel as if he had entered an exceptionally vivid dream.

There, the peaks of mountain ranges undulated up and down as the clouds and mist shrouded the verdant, steep cliffs.

The entire vast mountain range was filled with an ancient aura as though it had existed for who knows how many years.

*Roar!*

*Howl!*

Dwelling within the sheer clifs and precipitous rock faces were vicious birds and fierce beasts. Some appeared just like cows while others seemed like wolves, fierce and monstrous.

Some even looked like horses with white bodies and black tails. With singular horns growing out from their heads, they possessed fangs and claws similar to that of tigers as they themselves hunting other tigers and leopards and battled with deities. Their roars sounded just like that of drums amidst the surroundings.

Countless flying beasts flapped their wings as they circled at low altitudes in the sky. They appeared just like crows, except with three heads and six tails, looking particularly unique. There were even some long-tailed pheasants with multi-colored feathers just like that of the mystical birds.

Numerous ferocious beasts roared like thunder, their entire bodies emitting terrifying auras. Meanwhile, the sound of vicious birds flying at a low altitude were capable of even cracking the steel-like rocks. Their presence within the mountain range caused one's heart to tremble as they appeared like dark clouds looming above in the sky.

As the auras of the beasts spread out, the vast mountain ranges and deep ravines down below turned completely silent. The countless creatures hibernating within trembled uncontrollably.

If any of these ferocious beasts appeared in the outside world, it would most likely flip the world upside down, creating chaos across all counties. Each one of them would easily receive the respect of tens of thousands of people outside. But at this moment, all those creatures appeared to have been tamed by someone.

From the face of the cliff, stars could be seen descending from the sky. If one looked carefully, they would realize that there were many figures hovering in the sky, each one of them exuding Qi comparable to that of actual stars in the sky.

The several terrifying figures standing in the middle dazzled even more brilliantly, just like that of the sun. The entire vast mountain range was instantly illuminated as if a god had descended upon this world and looked down disdainfully at the earth.

Those figures lingering with terrifying aura had such a great visual impact that they seemed just like the legendary figures only spoken of in the myths!

"Ao Tong, hand over those monsters in your arms, for they shouldn't have existed in the first place! Otherwise, don't blame the clan for being ruthless!"

Amongst the several figures that radiated brightly like the sun, a shout resounded through the sky like thunder, echoing for a long while.

The fierce beasts within the mountain ranges trembled upon hearing the thunderous voice that seemed to contain an endless amount of ancient might.

"Second Protector, my children are not monsters!"

A man and woman stood together in the plaza. The seemingly aloof woman stepped out on her own as she stared at the terrifying figure above without a single shred of fear in her eyes. She was holding tightly onto the two babies who seemed to have just been born in each of her arms.

Indeed, having just been born into this world, the two little fellows' eyes brimmed with great vigor as their spirits seemed to be about to overflow.

While the thunderous roar of the terrifying figure had caused even the ferocious beasts in the mountain ranges to tremble, those two little fellows did not even flinch, seemingly unafraid. Laying down on the left arm of the woman, one of the children sucked on their own tiny index finger with its mouth as if it had been dipped into a pot of honey.

On the woman's right arm, the other child waved its hand and feet in the air. Wearing an exquisite face, it looked extremely adorable.

"If they really aren't monsters, then why did the heavenly lightning strike down upon the earth, signaling the wrath of the heavens, when you gave birth to those two monsters after being pregnant with them for three and a half years? In order to prevent future calamities from descending upon my clan, those monsters can definitely not be left alive!"
